Back Home in Vancouver…

Yeah I know…..I have been lazy again and haven’t updated this blog for a long time!! After San Fran and the races at Laguna Adam and I parted ways….he had to get back to home and I was on my way to San Diego to do a little golfing…. I was going to meet a few friends in San Diego for a golf weekend but I had a few days to kill….so whenever you have a few spare days, what do ya do??? Vegas baby!!! So off I was to San Diego via Las Vegas and I decided to get to Vegas thru Death Valley…never been there before and decided to sweat my a*** off and check it out….

One of the many never ending roads......I think it was about 110 degrees out!!!

Went over a few sand dunes to get this one......now thats a desert!

I reached the hottest point of the valley at about 200ft below sea level and it was HOT!!!! I was surprised at the amount of traffic travelling through, but I guess it’s one of those places that you just have to see at least once….Off to Vegas now…usual Vegas stuff except I stayed on Fremont Street (Golden Nugget) instead of the strip….It was actually a lot of fun and much cheaper that the strip!! I also got to sample the famous $1.99 shrimp cocktail (used to be 99cents)…not bad at all.

Stayed in Vegas a few days then back on the bike pointed towards San Diego for some golf…a few buddies were flying down and we had tee times at Torrey Pines and Steel Canyon….Usual guys golf weekend debauchery with no pics….that’s the unwritten rule amongst my friends…Had a great weekend, spent a lot of cash and lost a lot of golf balls!!! The boys flew out that Sunday and I was back on the bike headed north…time to go home…Pretty much just headed north with no planned destinations or stops other than Crater Lake in Oregon, It had been a while on the road and it was time to get home…..

Tight single lane road following Salmon River in Northern Cali...Believe it or not semi trucks travel along this road as I found out coming around a blind corner and saying hello to one of their grills....it was a close one as I was almost forced off the side of the road...whew!!!

Crater Lake in Central Oregon......

After Crater Lake, it was pretty much 12hrs on the bike to get home….it was a loooong day, but I was glad to be home!!!!

I have been back in Vancouver now for almost a month now and it has been beautiful here!!! One day of rain in all off August!!! Sunny and hot the other days…..so it’s been kinda tough to leave on my next trip…Alaska is (was??) the next destination and I was planning to leave after the Labour Day long weekend…That got pushed back cause I ended up purchasing a new motorcycle…BMW F800GS….much nicer that my trusty KLR, but also much more expensive. Anyone wanna buy a KLR????

So the plan is to take the BMW up to Alaska, but I still need to add a few parts to get it ready for the trip. They are all on order now and I am waiting for delivery, but the problem is that it is starting to get a little late in the year and I am not sure how the weather is going to in Alaska for end of September…..hmmmm, so right now I am gonna fix the bike up and get it ready to go, then check the weather in Alaska and make a game time decision….If I don’t end up doing Alaska, I have another option of heading to Peru and Machu Pichu in October…..so only time will tell!!!!
