Update time…..
So the initial “plan” was to leave Eureka and head south on the Hwy 101 and connect onto Hwy 36 which is famous road well known by motorcycle enthusiasts. Apparently it is full of twisties with beautiful scenery that travels east towards Red Bluff and connects onto I5… From there I was going to hop on I5 and make my way to Monterey through San Fran…..Like I said, that was the initial plan….the night before, I got an email from Greg (the rider from Maui that I had met the day before) and he mentioned that after Eureka he headed south to “The Lost Coast” of California which was aptly named back in the 1930″s as the population at the time started leaving the area and the rugged terrain proved too costly for roads into the area…..I quote “AMAZING!!!!…..Hairpins, potholes, ruts, gravel in places, rough surface, etc….”, how could I pass that up???? I was going to be back in Cali in July, so I figured I could do hwy 36 then……Well, let me tell you, he wasn’t exagerating one little bit….the road is pretty rough and is not well suited for street bikes (which is probably why it’s not more popular), but for dual sports, it’s perfect!!!! As Greg mentioned, rough broken up pavement, gravel and some very tight hairpins….I probably should of taken more pics, but I was concentrating on the road ahead. The route took you through dense forest, open ranchland, along the rugged coast line and exited throught the “Avenue of Giants” which in itself ia amazing and has some of the largest trees I have ever seen ( and I didn’t even see the biggest ones)…..

I wish I had a better camera to capture the beauty of all this, but this is all my point and shoot would do (it has nothing to do with the operator, it’s the equipment…hahahaha…that’ what I say about my golf game too!!)…..After the Avenue of Giants, it was back on the 101 to monterey……

Hey Hose, sounds like you are already having quite an adventure. It looks like you loaded up the bike pretty good. How’s the butt and the back holding out ?? Rode my bike around town with Wella yesterday (Saturday) it was beautiful.
The Corbin seat is probably the best thing I added to the bike!! well worth the price tag….the back is another story, but I’m getting used to it now….If you guys ever decide to go on a road trip, the oregon/cali coast is perfect fo you……
